I thought atheists just don’t believe in God or gods?

Is that a core tenet of atheism?

It’s confusing because many atheists have posted here that atheism just means no belief in a God or gods.

There are no "core tenets" of atheism.

For me, gods = supernatural. Same thing.

I am not bothered by it; just trying to learn.

There are atheists who say that no atheist believes in the supernatural, and others (like you) who don’t have a strong opinion about the supernatural world.

Then another atheist posted statistics and data that shows some atheists do have some supernatural beliefs.

It's not that deep. Atheists have independent thoughts and do their own thing.

An atheist has twice posted in this thread that no atheist believes in the supernatural world.

Are you saying your disbelief in the supernatural world is limited to God/gods? That other supernatural elements could be genuine?

It’s contradictory when some atheists say no atheists believe in the supernatural, and some say atheists do their own thing.

I will take that as some atheists speak inappropriately for other atheists and each atheist has their own opinion on the supernatural world.

9:19 says atheists can think more than one thing?

So it’s not uniform in the atheist community, because those are two atheists with different views about the supernatural.

What?!?! Different people think differently?

Unpossible!

I only speak for myself.

For me, gods = supernatural. Same thing.

9:38: “That's not at all what pp said, which I think and hope that you understand. No atheist believes in the supernatural.“

Most atheists probably don't believe in any aspects of the supernatural world but that's not universal.

Each atheist only speaks for him/herself.

Some atheists say they believe in the supernatural and some say they don’t.

It’s contradictory and confusing when someone (apparently an atheist) repeatedly posts untrue statements about all atheists.

I’ve begun to recognize a pattern here: some people posting as “atheist“ are actually putting forward a communist view of religion. A lot of their threads seem aimed at riling up a Democrat versus Republican argument surrounding religion.

Reality is that in every religion there are both Republicans and Democrats. Religion is not actually divisive in our politics in that way. The extremism in some religions is divisive, especially when it’s coming from those who are trying to use it to gain political power.

Atheists are openly contradicting each other. They are the confused ones.
