Wrong!
Pneumonia is life threatening when you're 88 yrs old and it's in both lungs.

And he had part of his lung removed when he was young so pneumonia IS definitely life threatening when you're already compromised.

Holy Mary, mother of god, pray for us sinners.

Do internet prayers work?

Why does any god need prayer to act? Why can't they already hear people? What is even the point, except as a form of self soothing for the prayee?

I am so sad about this. He has been such a good Pope and did his best to drag the church in to more modern times.

Don't be too sad. The Pope will go straight to heaven.

That is exactly the point. By self soothing, man is able to see more clearly and choose the correct action.

No, he's just God representative here on Earth, for Catholics.

He seemed a good person and Pope.
I am not Catholic but I prayed for no pain, fear or suffering for him.

I pray for this Pope, that his bodily suffering might reduced. He's better than his predecessors. I hope the next conclave continues its progressive trend.

Me too! Keep it going and bring women in!

Why would God let him die?

The man is 88, if you're questioning why God lets people die, maybe look at the kids who die unnecessarily from hunger or preventable diseases.

Because no one is immortal.

It's a merciful release for someone of his age and with the immense burden of the papacy.

If you're asking why innocents suffer and die before their time... that's why I don't go to church any more.
