I absolutely agree, if there is fraud find it and deal with it. That would be wonderful.

I am skeptical those with the expertise to find fraud and handle it will be involved and that it will not be either random or wrecking-ball in nature. Similar to the wrecking ball being taken to feds indiscriminately where a scalpel would be most effective while preserving the nation’s best interests.

Everyone knows that most of the waste in Medicare is from them paying the Medicare Advantage (managed care) plans MORE than it would cost to cover the same beneficairies through regular/traditional Medicare. This is why publicly-traded companies like United, Aetna, Humana, etc. are worth so much money. Billions and billions of dollars. But because of regulatory capture, Congress won't tell CMS to change the way they get paid.

Elon will probably go after the poors on Medicaid instead, when doctors currently get paid 60% of what Medicare pays to deliver services to Medicaid patients, and 15 states still don't cover adults 100% of the poverty level.

So you do realize that Medicare and Medicaid expenditures are more efficient than private health insurance because the government caps costs for procedures? If we get rid of those programs US health care expenditures would rise, not fall, assuming the same level of care.

So they cap expenditures. The providers also push more of it. The government is not efficient. Go sell that somewhere else; it's a punchline.

Now you have medicare ads on TV pushing convenience like free meals, transportation and charge cards to pay for expenses. The programs have ballooned out of control.

Republicans have always considered poverty to be a personal moral failing. And that, by punishing the poor, it will motivate them to magically earn more money or work more than two jobs while trying to raise a family.

A lot of it is not fraud. it's new initiatives to spend more money on new services and offerings and gleaning new "rights" for people that the program cannot possibly support.

Example: I want a pony. OK, we'll classify that as a service animal. We'll offer that as a mental wellness offering. And a stable, land and feed for the horse. And riding lessons for the medicare member. Plus an allowance for equine vet care of said animal. And maybe a companion second horse, since horses are lonely by themselves and don't perform well. This can be backed up by study X from the Department of Equine Studies at __________.

You see how these programs can grow?

Living in DC forever I always understand the inside mission of USAID just from my neighbors and their positions with the agency, but come on, a bridge too far on so many levels. These countries can plant their own gd seeds.
