I know more than a single person who does. I don't. But I know of people who are taking this deal and seem to trust it. All fellow lawyers. |
| I read somewhere that this is less than the number of employees who would have left or retired anyway, so Miss Elong just actually cost the government money. Good job, you Titan of efficiency! Much saving! So hardcore! |
| isn't that a good thing? Fewer feds will be RIF. |
I don't believe that. I am surrounded by fed lawyers who scoffed at it the minute it came out. They work for different departments. |
Sure whatever. If you believe the liar who is just lying constantly. |
Based on a source in DOGE or the WH? Who are all liars? |

20,000 is a pathetic number.
Everybody I know that’s retiring this year is just taking it so they can get the hell out and generally 70,000 people retire a year and 70,000 people find new jobs so if their numbers aren’t close to 150,000 they’re pathetic. |
That’s not really how it works. For the people who are really stupid (like you) you’re gonna actually think that they got rid of people. they’re gonna have a certain number and but it’s no more than the number of people that leave in a month anyway. Also, since I’m talking to somebody who generally has no clue what’s going on, Biden was departing 750 people a day and Trump is departing less than 300 people a day and everybody’s acting like he’s deporting more. It’s pathetic. |
+1 Strongly agree. But even if it were real - the number represents ~1% of federal employees. I promise you at least 1% retire every year, and if you were already going to retire this year why wouldn't you take the "stay home and avoid this chaos" retirement plan? |
This. Elon is an arrogant idiot. |

DH and a couple of people at his office are retiring in the next couple of weeks and months and are not taking it. US Senators are saying don’t take it it’s a trap and what’s to stop them for firing you for being disloyal if you do take the deal.
If you do get fired for disloyalty what happens to your pension? Too much uncertainty and distrust. |
No. they are not pathetic and all of the childish name-calling isn't going to change ine thing. This is just a start and it needs to be done. And yes I was at an agency and saw my supervisees in action. It was actually appalling how many - well, actually most - employees were abusing the agencyz And before you call me childish names, I am not a Trumper |
I mean, why wouldn't they just submit their retirement paperwork instead of relying on something this dubious? |
I think the ones that took it either don't want to RTO or are looking to leave ASAP. What they have in common is they are eligible for retirement and don't see any risk with rolling the dice to stay an extra 8 months doing jack squat but getting paid. In sum, these people were going to leave already but see the fork as a way to get more pay before retiring. |
