+1 You never know what's next here. It could be the "normal" path or something we never imagined happening. |

Can those of you who seem to know about push back at USAID share links or info about that here?
I have friends at both CFPB and Ed and I want to try and give them some hope and idea as they attempt to mobilize now. |
I pay attention to actions, not words. Because Trump, Musk and their minions are all liars. I have friend who works for USAID who is currently stranded in a very precarious situation overseas. She has zero access to the US government. Her DH is actually working with another friendly government to get her out. So kindly f off with your BS. |
BTW, their Congressman and Senators (GOP) haven't returned her DH's calls. |
That's incredibly scary. Praying for your friend's safety. If there is any way for the DCUM community to assist, you should post about it. I know people want to help. |
I’m so sorry. This is so insane, I can’t even comprehend what is happening right now. |

OP here—I didn’t list ed because it’s a cabinet level agency so no need to move it under executive control (right?). they can skip that part and just cut straight to the chase, as they are.
though CFPB shows they don’t need to fold something into an executive agency to kill it |
Yes, things are limbo right now and no, it's not good. But USAID is not over or gone. Wait and see. |
| Education is next. I also think NASA should be held accountable for not delivering for decades where the private sector could |
Is she tweeting them? And posting on Facebook, Bluesky, etc.? Calling them out publicly? Has she contacted NYT and Wapo, or other papers? Does anyone know about her situation beyond you and her DH? |
Do you mean should be given funds so that they could deliver? I agree. |
Thanks, appreciate that. And I know she's not the only one. |
Please re-read my post and look up "precarious" |
Care to share the details, why so secret? Surprised it's not on the news? |
| Not that it matters, but since OP mentioned FCC and censorship - TV rating standards are not its main job, it's just the thing OP remembered. FCC is why we can have phone, radio, TV, etc work across state lines, and why prices aren't higher than they are even though there may be only one provider in your area. If we lived in a better timeline, it would be doing universal broadband. |
