Did any Feds resign?

What did they say in the email?

Curious about this too. As for me no I don’t know anyone who responded. Everyone seemed pretty resolute today. I agree it seemed almost like it had the opposite effect.

It identified them as a probationary employee, requested they respond if they disagree, and mentioned "the agency" (???) has the right to immediately terminate them. Our HR has never seen a direct OPM termination before.

Also invites them to click on a fact sheet about probationary removals and invites them to reply with any questions.

Hell no. My component was provoked by it to dig in deeper. The civil servants will win.

A cross between a scammer and a stalker. Well played, Doge bros.

This is wha happens when you put tech bros who think they know everything in change of something they have zero understanding of. They just do not get that Feds and tech workers are very, very different people with different mindsets. And they don’t seem to understand that the civil service isn’t optional. They are so used to issuing a vague order and an underling makes it happen. The whole having to follow rules and processes and checks and balances and being told no, it just isn’t possible thing is beyond their comprehension. And rather than listening and learning, they’ve decided to make 2 million feds into tech workers. Good luck with that. And God bless bureaucracy.

That’s just gross. And I’d view it as an illegal threat making any resignation involuntary.

I would definitely not reply.

No, I think if anything they made us more determined.

Can you share what agency? I’ve seen an email like this for EPA, but it wasn’t clear who sent it - I thought it may have been from EPA. Wondering if staff at other agencies got it as well.

The only people I know who were thinking of considering it were not our deepest thinkers to begin with. Even they, when they asked questions on mechanics, were put off when others explained some of the challenges with the email. Most people, even the ones who are fed up and might take a legit offer, precisely because they are government employees who work with our systems and regulations, recognize the inherent inconsistencies and probable illegalities in the email and view it as nothing more than wishful spam.

When they offer proper VERA and VSIP packages however, that may be another story.

The WTOP survey shows 11% planning to resign and a similar percentage considering it. I am a govt contractor and read the OPM email. It seemed written well enough and I can’t say I understand the extreme skepticism and suspicion here. Take it, don’t take it. If you truly believe the Federal Government is a lean, well-oiled machine, you’re confused.

Hi troll

I am thinking about it but have not yet. We have at least one more person who might take the offer.

Wow. That WTOP write up is terrible. They have a graph showing 11% are considering the offer, then they say 11% are planning to take it. It’s a bad poll question made much worse by the write up. They need to issue a correction.

I really appreciate this. I know a lot of people who were feeling confused and demoralized until that email. Reading it, and knowing Musk's history with that sort of thing, pulled us all up into a united front of determination to hold this line together.

Maybe Congress isn't going to stop him, but we will do our best. He's going to have to take it to the courts.
