They aren’t ok with it. He’s been fired.

They 100% do. They are lying on purpose to foment hate and create cover for their racist fascist agenda.

That was a pleasant surprise.

At the end of his remarks, Robinson made a gesture with his right hand that looked very clearly like a Nazi salute - and seemingly was intended to mimic Elon Musk. He snickered, and the audience laughed. This was at the 2025 National Pro-Life Summit. A self-described Christian man using a symbol of death to inspire people at a conference that is supposed to celebrate life.

This is exactly the kind of thing that those who were quick to point out that Musk gave a Nazi salute, were afraid of.

Yeah, sadly, this tracks for "Christianity" these days.

"Like a madman shooting firebrands and deadly arrows, so is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I was only joking!”"

I'm a little surprised we haven't seen much analysis on the obvious fact that there's political Christianity and spiritual Christianity now. MAGA is politically Christian and is closely aligned with white Evangelicals and conservative Catholics.

Maga is much nuttier and more dangerous than conservative Catholics, IMO. The conservative Catholics I know in my life (not me, I'm an atheist) are typical (olden days? traditional?) conservative Republicans, sure, but not Maga.

For example, my aunt is very anti-abortion even in cases where it is needed to save the mother's life. That's god's will in her opinion. However, she is not against birth-right citizenship. She wants our borders secured but she is not anti-immigration or racist toward POC. She wants welfare reform but does not want the programs eliminated. She has been pretty critical of Trump's EOs on freezing federal funds and thinks it's a terrible idea that will make people and the economy suffer. She does not think Trump is a Christian or religious at all. She thinks he fakes it. She doesn't support gay marriage in that she will never attend one, but she's not homophobic. I'm a lesbian and my cousin, her son, is gay. We aren't banished from her house or life. She didn't come to my wedding. She did send a lovely card and gift. I was fine with that. My wife and my kids are all welcome at her house for the holidays. I think her stance on attending a gay wedding will change when my cousin, her son, is old enough to marry. I find it hard to believe she'll miss that. She's never missed any of the other stereotypically gay things he does (ribbon dancer, ballet, theatre).

I am sincerely glad that you get along with your aunt despite your differences. I was more talking about the Opus Dei type Catholics - there are four on the Supreme Court. They are definitely part of a political movement that has more in common with MAGA than Catholicism.

The ultra conservative Catholics would gladly plant trees so that the Nazis could march in the shade.

I’m Catholic and know lots of MAGA Catholics. I do my best to avoid them.

There are a LOT!

Can someone explain why he smirked and the crowd laughed after he made the gesture? What’s so funny??
Anonymous
No no no, this upstanding Christian man was merely performing a neo-anachronistic Roman Republic Salute, artistically attributed to polytheistic heathens who didn't know the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Because they’re in on “the joke”, which isn’t a joke. See the poster above gleefully pointing out “he’s just trolling you!”. Which is cover/not cover for normalizing acceptance of fascism.

These folks take comfort in external markers of acceptance by others because they’re aware, on some level, of how awful they are. If you’re a white person and you’ve ever had someone tell a racist joke in a group and look around quickly to see who will laugh or respond, you know what I mean. They need allies because they’re deeply rotted and broken, but have no interest in being better.

So the gesture is only a Nazi salute when conservatives do it. Ok.

I’ll add this to the rule book for liberals.
