No school on Wed this week - MCPS run by idiots

Anonymous
There is always a day off in late January for end of semester grading. Some years, like this one, the day coincides with Lunar New Year. Other years, it does not.

Don’t feed the troll, folks.

Personally I’m excited to spend a special day with my daughter. Sorry you’re so miserable.

OP I would be happy to take a look at your work schedule to re-do it according to how I think your hours should be allocated.

Does this work every year?

After closing schools for 3 days after a snow - for no reason at all, they now want another day off?

Awful. Embarrassing. Idiots. Morons.

Can someone sign an executive order to fire all the people in charge at MCPS?

I’m sorry that you regret your choice to WOtH but lashing out isn’t helping you.

You can sign an executive order to send your kid to private school.

No, not every year, because Lunar New Year sometimes falls weeks later.

This is a completely normal event in districts across the country. Stop looking for things to complain about, and stop referring to hardworking people that work with YOUR children in such incredibly rude, disheartening ways.

And, no, I'm not an MCPS employee. I'm a parent that cares about the mental health of the people working with my children.

The day to enter grades is a legacy from pre-digital grade book.
I don't mind the kids having a day off but if you haven't graded work before the last day of the semester that's your own poor planing.

I am sure there are teachers who need more time grading, but I have been impressed with my own kids’ teachers. They are in high school and middle school and every single one of them, which are a lot of teachers, are up-to-date with grading.

Is Wednesday a grading day or is it also a training day?

+1 it's not new

Someone can rationally argue about whether that should have become a makeup day but OP tone is truly unhinged

Right, so conscientious teaches get the day off to celebrate new years. Lazy teachers have to scramble to catch up.

Dude. The way some people judge teachers is insane. These teachers are working their butts off and they're swamped and every once in a while they need a day to catch up and finish grades.

If any teachers are reading this, many of us think you deserve some built in days to catch up. Thanks for all you do.

(also this is very normal practice across the country, this is an "MCPS sucks" sort of thing. For goodness sakes)
