No school on Wed this week - MCPS run by idiots

Anonymous
I'm sorry, there is ZERO justification for no school on wed this week so teachers can "get their grades in." MCPS is run by complete idiots.

After closing schools for 3 days after a snow - for no reason at all, they now want another day off?

Awful. Embarrassing. Idiots. Morons.

Can someone sign an executive order to fire all the people in charge at MCPS?

It's been a scheduled no school day on the calendar all year.

Those grading days are in negotiated agreements and have been in the schedule all year.

Those unscheduled days off last week wouldn’t have helped teachers calculate grades on work that hadn’t been turned in yet.

That’s why the teacher work days are at the end of the quarter—*after* the work has been completed, but *before* the grades are due. It’s not a vacation day that can be jammed in just anywhere.

But you knew that already, didn’t you? You were just looking for an excuse to bash teachers and complain about MCPS.

Teachers weren’t working those days. If you want them to work those days you put it in the contract and pay them for it.

Don't buy it.

So you don’t care if your kid’s report card has grades?

Schools are closed officially for grading but they chose that day because we have a large Asian population and Wednesday is lunar new year.

Op it is a grading day. Grow up.

Thank you! The teacher bashing on this site is off the charts recently. I tell myself it’s just one poster to keep it from bothering me.

FYI- it takes more than 8 hours to grade everything and submit semester grades. Teachers are still working overtime on their own time and dime.

FCPS is also off for same reason.

Ah, it’s the Angry Poster again. The one who spreads hate on every thread. You should be banned.

At least the grades aren’t due at 10am on the half day that is set aside for grading. My district gives teachers an afternoon for grading at the end of each quarter but our grades are due at 10am. Ridiculous.

It’s not a random Wednesday, it’s Chinese New Year. They wanted to have that day off, but didn’t know how to add it without uproar, so decided to merge it with end of quarter student holiday. All districts have it. Loudoun is off for 3 days in row, so be glad you are not there.
