That's VERY fugly. It's giving Mormon Modest.

Sigh. DCUM with zero understanding of fashion thinking wedding = dress up and dress up = skirt.

+1

It's comically bad.

Oh, yay! The poster who fancies herself the arbiter of what to wear for all occasions has graced us with her presence! Now I'm sure the OP will get the advice she deserves, from the fashion expert herself.

Great dress, great price. OP, go for this dress!

This is probably going to be an unpopular answer here, but assuming you have no way of guessing what other attendees are likely to be wearing, I would wear something like this:
https://halsbrook.com/products/rita-floral-jacquard-jacket
—but with a lighter and wider trouser and closed-toe, closed-heel shoe with a lower heel, not the strappy sandals in the photo. I would wear something simple but polished in a pastel color under the jacket. That way if everyone else is much more casual, I could remove the jacket at brunch, but if people are more dressed up, I would still fit right in.
I would keep my chest, knees, and shoulders covered, and wear a low-heeled closed-toe/closed-heel shoe. Tidy hair. Clean girl makeup.

Pretty jacket and agree with your styling and reasoning, but this jacket reads “older woman” to me, so while I do like this suggestion, if OP is under 55 (just to pick a number), I’d probably opt for a different jacket but still the same concept as what PP describes.

I love all of these.

I'm sure you'll get hate from the crowd that didn't like "Mormon Modest" dress, but the whole event is in a church. These people probably don't spend much time in churches and don't have a feel for what's church appropriate.

Dress it up, OP. You can wear a very nice pantsuit if you insist on pants.

Otherwise, a dress. I liked this one that a PP suggested. There are a few others that I thought were OK. NOT the ugly Mormon ones.
