Wedding guest attire help please

Fashionistas of DCUM, please take pity on me and send links.
I’m a +1 at a morning wedding of an older couple (70+). Entire celebration will take place in a church. Ceremony and brunch, no dancing. Early April in Charlottesville. Would pants be ok? Sweater?
I’m 5’9”, 145 lbs.

How about a sweater and midi skirt?

I wouldn’t wear pants and a sweater to a wedding, but I bet it would be fine. I’d wear a day dress, something like this: https://www.dillards.com/p/antonio-melani-willow-floral-applique-mock-neck-short-sleeve-midi-dress/519528241

Agreeing with above. No pants. Midi skirt, boots (can be flat), silk blouse, blazer.

April in BVA will be muddy. Nice boots.

Meant VA not BVA

I wouldn't wear pants. I tend to think finding a dress is easier than trying to find a skirt and a top that work together unless you already have a go to skirt or blouse you'd like to wear.

The safe option is a midi length, solid color or subtle print. Are wrap dresses, shirt dresses, or body con dresses most flattering on you?

Muddy? In a church?

I would wear a church/day dress - anything along these lines. I’d have at least short sleeves or a sweater. Shoes can be flats, boots, pumps or whatever is weather appropriate and you like.

I agree to wear a dress or skirt, and that finding a dress is easier than finding a skirt combo.

I like this dress, and I could wear this to work, too, in the navy (although I love it in the lighter blue).

I think pants would be fine! But some of these options are also nice.

Wearing pants and a sweater is an insult to the wedding. You'd wear pants and a sweater to jury duty. Wear something you would ONLY wear to a wedding.
