I challenge you to match farms rate and test score. In MCPS low farms = high test score in comparison to higher farms schools. I would be much more impressed with a high farms school getting a high test score. |
| lol!! My friend is a school psych at one of these W schools and they told me the amount of parents who demand a 504 for “adhd” to get extended time in high school is unbelievable. Parents will even get bogus Dr notes or private evals to get this documentation to get these 504s before leaving onto college. It’s 100% scamming the system |
| In other words: more people need to praise W schools for no reason. |
Those are super wealthy neighborhoods bruh |
If they are scoring higher with accommodations, that’s direct proof that they need the accommodations. Not scamming the system. The system is scamming the kids who need time but don’t get it. Call your local equity officer. |
Kudos to the parents, tutors, and cram schools of Western MoCo! |
I'd like to see it broken down by either SES or racial cohort again like they did a few years ago. I think that gives us a much better idea of the schools quality. This just tells us which schools have the lowest FARMs rate. |
This. Kids that need extra time benefit from extra time. Kids that do not need extra time do not benefit from extra time. Multiple studies confirm this dating back to the early 90’s. I’d be fine if everyone had extra time, not because it would somehow magically increase everyone’s grades, but because it would finally put this foolish argument to rest. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2010672/ |
You mean the best student peer group |
We already have a good indicator of school quality, the FARMs rate. We all know a great kids can do ok in any school but for avg kids which are the vast majority of them, environment matters. |
The ACT is a timed test with time as a factor. Remove that and it gets a lot easier |
| RMHS at 6th place, impressive: it truly punches above its weight. It’s a powerhouse given it has very diverse SES rates compared to the W schools and Poolesville |
| The flip side is that it is easier to stand out of the crowd during applications if you go elsewhere and have very high scores… |
This post is specifically about the SAT. |
Above exactly Being able to get a high score with the very limited time isn’t the same as if you had twice as much time. This is obvious. |
