This. A nose job gone wrong can end up in empty nose syndrome. Absolutely not worth it. She can pay for it herself when she graduates and gets a job.

Maybe your nose was very large or stood out though? I get it for such cases but in her case her nose is truly not an issue to anyone other than her. It seems risky to end up with a worse nose.

What you consider a bad nose is different than others. What is objectively wrong with her nose? Bump?

The slightest bump and just not small. It looks like Penelope Cruz’s nose.

Penelope cruz had a nose job.

She doesn't like it. Get over that you don't hate it, she does. She has a bump. That isn't feminine.

She is female, therefore her face is feminine, you idiot.

I would not pay for this but she can get a job and save up to do it when she's in her 20s.

What is your household income, OP?
What is your daughter’s plan for after high school?
How does feel about herself other than the nose? Does she choose smart, caring friends, or is she insecure?
Does she have any sense of the cost?

No. I’d tell her no. The only exception would be if it was truly unsightly and didn’t fit her face and was the source of peer ridicule. But it doesn’t sound like this is case. Rather she is just heavily influenced by social media “perfect” influencer noses. I bet by 25, she won’t want a nose job nor want to look like a basic influencer anymore. Just wait this out until she is old enough to pay for it herself

She can do it at 18. Help her find a good plastic surgeon but have her pay for it and sign off on it. Nose jobs really aren't a big deal.

I think they are because so many look pretty bad and fake.

So why would someone with her post nose job nose need a nose job?

I wanted a nose job when I was her age. Glad I never got one. The people I know who got nose jobs were awful- their old noses looked better. Tell her that people change their minds about this stuff as they get older and if she still absolutely hates it in a few years, you can discuss again. This stuff is permanent - can’t get the old nose back, no matter how much you think you hate it.

This. Have one final conversation about it OP. The answer is no, as long as she is a minor and funded by you, which most likely will be until she is at least 22-23. If she wants to start saving for it then, that's on her.

This. Even if she still wants one in a few yrs, what she thinks the “perfect” nose should like at 17, might be entirely different than what she would want at 24. This is permanent. You get one good go at it. She will have better results if she wants a few more yrs and it becomes a more cognitive and thoughtful decisions vs teen with body image issues that is going to pick some fake looking ski slope nose

Same. And I can say mine is big and there was definitely some teasing in middle school, though only from one boy. But it made me feel terrible. One day in college, a girl told me I had the perfect nose and looked like a Roman goddess. That reframed my thinking. I’m so glad I kept my big nose. It’s unique and adds character

Have your DD Google "Jennifer Grey." She said, "I went in the operating room a celebrity—and came out anonymous."
