Do that many people order cocktails with ginger ale?

What sort of whiskey or bourbon are you ordering with ginger ale? People into good whiskey and bourbon seem to get pretentious about mixing it.

+1 That’s a REALLY common standard drink order, up there with gin & tonic.

I love g&t’s in warm weather and whiskey & ginger in cool weather!

I’m the first PP and this is what I do too in summer! G&Ts are equally delicious!

For the PP who asked which whiskey, I’m not especially fussy. At home I just do Bulleit.

Bourbon and ginger is my go to.

Jameson & ginger. Bourbons like Makers Mark or Woodford Reserve & ginger are nice, too, but borderline too sweet.

What do you think should replace it?

Ginger ale is my go-to drink when I'm not drinking alcohol. I don't have it in cocktails but PPs are sharing good ideas. Also it's cans so they can be purchased and sit at the bar basically indefinitely until they're needed.

+1, I don't drink anymore for health reasons but this used to be my go do because I like how spicy it is with the rum and ginger.

Dark spicy rum and ginger ale is an excellent drink.

I worked at a bar in college and it's suprisingly common for non drinkers to request ginger ale.

Bourbon and ginger - the king of drinks

I'm cutting way back on drinking for fitness reasons and ginger ale totally scratches the itch. My perfect mocktail.

That’s ginger beer. I see this a lot more than drinks with ginger ale.

People into good whiskey and bourbon drink it neat and don’t mix it. I’m another one drinks bourbon and ginger and who has Bulleit at home, or sometimes Makers, because they’re good enough to drink straight (Woodford which I also sometimes have is better) but also fine for mixing and not so pricy that mixing with them seems wasteful.
