So I bought a $1600 cashmere coat

Would you size up or down for pre-owned Max Mara?

That is my monthly rent. You deserve. what you got for wasting so much money on something unnecessary.

Return it. You will be unhappy and not wear it.

I wanted a more elegant and elevated look. Are all expensive coats like this?

Maybe work on your spelling first. An expensive coat won't cover up your poor education.

This.

Fancy clothes are just that. They won’t fix a frumpy body or crooked nose or yellow teeth.

DP

You are a mean person.

Op: I know what you are saying. You splurged on something and expected the fabric, cut, etc. to be dramatically different than the average coat from Macy’s. This is why I won’t buy nice things online; I need to touch them and try them on so I’m assured the item is worth it.

Return it and keep looking. Find something you love.

Just like being rude anonymously doesn't cover up poor ettiquette.

Wow, so many people here sound like they need a hug! OP, spend your money however you see fit. If the coat isn't what you want then definitely return it. I took "expensive" to mean you were looking for a good quality coat. My closet is full of items from varying price points as I've found price doesn't always mean quality. Even in Max Mara I've had a sales associate show me how some of their coats will drape better regardless of price. Keep looking for something that makes you feel great when you wear it. For everyone that responded rudely, I'm sorry for whatever you're going through that makes you respond to people like that.

Return it.

And don't buy such expensive things hoping to feel amazing in them without trying them on.

You’re another one who needs spelling lessons. Or perhaps this is OP? Very on brand, if so.

Sounds like you should return it. Probably the price was about the quantity of cashmere required to make it. But, yes buy used.

My grandma gave me a cashmere coat. I loved it, but no, it wasn't earth-shattering. In the end it's just a wool coat.

Just get a new maxmara from tjmaxx. Or shop whatever coats they have in Tyson’s or Potomac yard. Sometimes they have nice stuff at a fraction of the price

I've learned, in my 100 year old house that probably has holes to the outside I don't know about, that I cannot keep cashmere around, unless I want to use that toxic anti-moths product. So now it's wool only, and so far, it's gone well. But every time I've bought something in cashmere, it's been eaten.

Moths eat wool too

This is OP. I am returning the coat as it is not bringing me joy. Lesson to self: try on things before purchasing!
