What do you mean by "gets all the love"? They had to advance to the Final Four, so clearly they were deserving of tournament bids.

Go Camels!

Have you reviewed how teams are selected from each conference within D3 Men's soccer?
Why does NESCAC have proportionally more teams than other conferences in D3 in the NCAA tournament?

Typically teams are selected for the NCAA tournament in 2 ways - they won their conference championship OR they received an automatic bid. NESCAC gets more at-berth selections than any other conference. That's what "gets all the love means" leaving the vast majority of the 42 other conferences with only 1 bid.

Is the NESCAC not proving that it was worthy of the most bids?

And by the way, that’s how NCAA selections are done in all sports. Why should every conference get the same number of bids if some are clearly better than others? There are more than enough bids to ensure that everyone deserving makes the tournament.

Who follows Mary Washington soccer? Isn’t that an all girls school?

You must be old. It has been co-ed for about 50 years.

That’s cool bro. But seriously who follows Mary Washington soccer? Is it an intramural league?

You’re on a thread titled Division III Soccer. Mary Washington was the top-ranked team in D3 at the end of the regular season and most of their players are from the DMV.

There are also threads about rec soccer too. So what?

So go post on them if that is the level you are interested in.

No there are not. We will never know if other teams are worthy because NESCAC gets more at-large bids. Its legacy bids and if you look at the records in the other conference many talented teams will never get the opportunity to show they are capable of a NCAA bid because one conference is taking proportional more bids than another based on historical significance. Its time to change this and give opportunities to the 42 other conferences in D3 Men's soccer.

Then win your conference if you're so worthy? Of the 43 conference winners who got automatic bids, 13 won their first round matches. That's not making a great case for the concept that there are other teams in most of those conferences that are worthy of a bid.

Of the 8 NESCAC teams in the tournament, all 8 won their first round matches. The Centennial Conference had four teams in the tournament and won a combined 5 matches. After Saturday, NESCAC's eight teams will have won a combined 21 matches. So if you're going to argue a conference got more bids than it deserved, it has to be the CC.

It is the same in women's soccer in the UAA. 6 of 8 teams got bids. Why? They blow out most of their non-conference opponents. They also all were ranked in the top 25 all year. So it is not legacy as you say it is because they are at a different level. NESCAC and UAA players for the most part are all D-1 prospects that picked D3 for the academics. Most had lower to mid D1 chances. Same on Men's side.

I love that the harder you're trying to act superior, the more you look like a tool. Impressive!

Didn't they move to NPI (National Power Rankings) for selection in 2024?

PP here: I should added that by doing this hoping this will ensure that the best teams across the country are selected for the tournament, regardless of conference affiliation or regional bias - which has been the case for years.

Bowdoin traditionally took the kids Dartmouth recruited but, in the end, could not actually fit on its soccer roster. The Dartmouth-Bowdoin pipeline is no more, what with the recent coaching changes. The Bowdoin assistant coach recruits the DC area - intensively.

I love that you try so hard to pretend that you don’t care what people think. You’re not insecure at all.

D3 sports, high school soccer and rec are all very cute. Congratulations for playing at some dental school soccer team.

Obviously, your whole purpose here is to sht on D3 soccer. Have at it. Realize, though, that these days about 97-98% of boys from the DMV that play beyond HS, do so in D3. Maybe a dozen a year go D1, but most of them are just riding the pine behind 24 y/o Euros at a state school. 1-2 a year go pro, but most of those are playing for low pay for a brief window of time. Probably the only active pro from this area that’s actually making big dollars is Kevin Paredes. If you are him, go ahead, sht talk…but you know what? I know him and he’d be the last guy to sht talk these guys. Hell, his brother played D3 and might be the person who - outside of himself - is most responsible for his success.

Nescac soccer is as good as many DI programs. They attract high academic students that can play and the there is as many kids at a Tufts camp as there is at a GTown camp.

And they have the money to recruit, train and travel. Not all D3 teams have these advantages.
