What is a reverse scholarship? student athlete over athlete student?
I would argue that's preferable to 95 percent of the DCUM population |
| but what about nva? |
Pay tuition, room/board, fees, and a significant donation to the university. |
Does BP only support the girls side? who supports the VDA boys? |
| The Arlington kids seem to go to high academic schools - many are in top private high schools like Sidwell and GDS. Don’t be fooled and think your kid can go to some of those schools from a public high school. They are student athletes for sure. And one of the VDA kids going to an Ivy League school goes to TJ. Academics probably mattered more than soccer. This isn’t an insult — good for these girls! |
If you take the lists, as a whole, I don't see them being all that different. Not different enough to say "The Arlington kids seem to go to high academic schools." Both programs have a mix of high academic schools, some colleges and universities that are "pretty good" and some that would not be my 4th choice and I'd guess it's because they just want to be on a team somewhere and that's fine if it is what they want for themselves. In no way am I denigrating either VDA or Arlington kids going to try and play college soccer. I just don't see the Arlington commits as overall any more superior academic wise as VDA. |
| 7 years later and revolution hasn’t produced a single player with a scholarship into college. lol |
How many people thought this was a serious post? |
MDU results in ECNL college placement other than D2 are pretty much same as rev |
None Everyone knows about BP and knows better |
|
I think the distribution across teams and schools is on par with the past 5 years or so. Yes, ECNL teams have combined/changed names but the distribution and the types of colleges has not at all.
College coaches know what types of players come out of certain regions. They know kids switch teams. There is not clear "winner" by ECNL program. The colleges know the type (no national training center invite - no duke, no unc etc) |
You must be new here |
Ivy league schools don't do athletic scholarships, so if a student is getting into an Ivy it's all academics |
That’s not quite the way it works. Coaches can help a certain number of players. The academics have to be good but the help is significant. |
Agree. No athletic $$, but athletics can get you admitted when you otherwise wouldn't be. |
