He told the principals today that student enrollment has gone down but they’ve greatly expanded central office positions, when the one type of job that’s actually under-staffed is special ed. So everyone at and above the director level has to reapply for their jobs. I think this is a good thing, and I’m impressed that he’s doing it mid year. He wants staff in schools, not 11 bloated layers of bureaucracy. The principals are happy, from what I can tell.

Enrollment has not gone down. It went up.

It’s really annoying when folks make people reapply for their jobs. It waste time, especially HR’s, creates unnecessary resentment, and prolongs the process. Just downsize whatever position(s) you don’t feel are necessary. It’s a weak leadership move.

It went down:

"Prekindergarten-Grade 12 student enrollment is 159,671 for the 2024-2025 school year as of September 30, 2024, a decrease of 552 students from the 2023-2024 school year. Kindergarten-Grade 12 student enrollment is 155,046 for the 2024-2025 school year, as of September 30, 2024, a decrease of 742 students from the 2023-2024 school year."

He can’t just fire people because of MCAAP. So this is the only way around that.

Why would he make this goofy video with all the current chiefs if he was about to fire them?

The video was pointless without saying the plan.

My supervisor spoke to us about this and is in favor of the restructuring even though their job could be on the line. If my supervisor has any issues or has to report something, the chain of command is so long that it takes forever. Taylor sees this and wants to eliminate that. If I remember correctly, he is starting to cut positions now and then after the restructure, certain positions that are left will have to reapply.

Apparently he got a bit political and is preparing for the next White House. He wants to pour the extra money into the schools/teachers and he won't accept federal funding if there is a choice to not accept undocumented children.

Maybe because it’s only the trailer?!? 🤣

So I guess this strange feeling of comfort when reading this page on DCUM is what it’s like to actually like a superintendent.

Get rid of useless admin. We need more staff in schools. Teachers are not able to meet the needs of kids right now. Many of the student needs are very extreme right now and staff are burning out, especially SpEd. Throwing endless online trainings at us, and proclaiming "equity!" every other email paragraph to justify poor decision making is not is not helping the kids in the classroom.

LOL Essie Mcguire is not cleaning house. She is old news. She lies, covers up and withholds information. Taylor is not cleaning up anything. This week he could not even answer direct questions fron councilmembers.

Chief Equity and Development Officer

Chief Student Support Officer

Chief Academic Officer

Chief Operations Officer

Chief Technology Officer

General Counsel

So is this position, Chief Equity and Development Officer , the one that is responsible for closing the gap by reducing everyone to the lowest possible level and eliminating opportunities for advancement?
