(oops, .. to know "what" I might ask for ...)

It was a referral for me for other related issues (vaginal pain). One of the issues addressed was libido, and she suggested testing my androgens (hormones) for bioavailable testosterone and estrogen. My T specifically was through the floor.

There was another thread a month or so ago where people swore by the Macca (or is it Maca) supplements. Many people said it helps with male libido, too.

Since this was mentioned, I looked, but unfortunately can't seem to find the previous thread on this. If anyone's got input they don't mind to share on use of Maca in relation to female libido (safety, effectiveness, etc), or please point out that thread, it'd be much appreciated ... Thanks...

(...just to get more feedback on this, in addition to the earlier useful post by PP 15:54)

and how do you get your doctor to take this seriously? I mentioned it to my doctor, and she said it was probably due to my getting older and no longer TTC. She didn't offer any alternatives like hormone testing.

Yes, I'm also interested in what doctor treated you. My understanding is that many don't know about bio-identical hormone replacement.

OP here ... I am interested in learning more, too, so if anyone else can comment on the Maca product, please chime in.

My husband and I have been taking Maca supplments for a few months now. I don't feel any negative side effects, but it definitely helped both of us to "get in the mood" much quicker than before we started using it. I also buy Ogoplex for my husband online. It's supposed to intesify his climax, which is quite helpful too in our TTC efforts.

Hi PP, thanks for sharing ... Just curious, based on what others have said, did your doctor have any say/reaction to the supplement, or you did this on your own initiative? (OP)

PP here - my GYN referred me to Mary Kendell, a nurse practitioner who was at MFA at the time, and is now at another GW property: http://www.integrativemedicinedc.com/p1005.html. She suggested hormone testing after a few other treatments.

There were others listed as referrals at my GYN but she was the one that I ended up going to.

Does she test your hormones at regular intervals to adjust your dose of hrt? My understanding is that hormone levels jump around a lot during perimenopause. I know some people believe you shouldn't do hrt because it changes from month to month. But I'm still interested in trying.
