Michael Moore expects large female turnout on Abortion

In the 2022 Midterms (1) Republicans won the House then, (2) Trump the leading cadidate *was not* on the ballot to help down ballot races he brings lots of R. voters to elections, (3) strict abortion measures were rolled back in many states since then.

So what am I missing here?

You're missing that the 2022 election has to be looked at in context; expected gains for Republicans were much higher than they got. Democrats lost a below average number of seats for the president's party, especially given the economic situation at the time, and they won independent voters which is pretty rare for the party in the White House. It's thought, I think probably correctly, that abortion drove a lot of that overperformance.

None of which is the same as saying that all women are single issue abortion voters or that Democrats are never going to lose an election in which women turn out because of abortion; the effect is more subtle than that.

“ I’m not worthy of full rights and bodily autonomy. Let stronger and smarter men be the steward of what is best for me and my daughters.”

+100. Internalized misogyny is so sad to witness in these poor women.

Same. I wised to be a single issue abortion voter but not any longer.

What’s that third word you were going for again? AI fail you somehow?

Nope. I’m at work and typing quickly so there’s a typo.

"wised" but you still voted based on the "border crisis" which was exacerbated by trump not allowing legistration to pass and he did nothing to help during his term. AND a "terrible economy" that the whole world went through b/c of COVID and economist after economist said a Trump term will make worse. But yes, you know better. Sure you were a single issue abortion voter... what other lies do you tell yourself?

+1. Michael is a one issue, one-trick pony. This is a very tiresome issue and is so 2022.

He needs a new schtick.

He correctly picked Trump in 2016 and Biden in 2020.

Haha. calling the abortion issue a tiresome issue is dream work on your part. This issue is going to sink Trump and he knows it.

Standard tiresome Maga talking points. For every maga fool, that doesn't understand that family planning is the biggest economic issue women face, there are five times that number of Harris voters that do understand this.

Do you live in a border town? How has the border crisis affected you personally?

I already voted and abortion was my single biggest issue. But I agree there were lots of other motivations to vote: not wanting to reelect a rapist who has promised to destroy our economy with tariffs and tax cuts for billionaires and a crazy plan to round up millions of people and deport them somewhere, who has laid out plans to seek vengeance against people targeted as enemies through prosecution, as well as to squelch the first amendment rights of critics and the media outlets that host them. NO THANK YOU.

If you’re struggling in the economy, you need to step back and assess where you went wrong. And then immediately start figuring out how you’re going to financially protect yourself once Trump sets off a global trade war. I genuinely don’t think you understand how things really work.

I think Michael Moore is a clown but the republicans barely won the house in 2022. The much-ballyhooed red wave never materialized. That’s what you’re missing.

+1 Also in Pennsylvania and Michigan where abortion was the #1 issue for midterm voters Democrats absolutely dominated.

Trump is well aware that he totally blew it with his overturning of Roe. He will try to blame everything under the sun except for himself. But even in his addled, narcissistic, failing old state, He knows he did this and he's going to lose because of it.

What do you mean, he applauds himself for doing so
