Zepbound side effects scaring me from starting meds

I had the same reaction as some of the posters above: debilitating fatigue, for me all day long. My vision was also affected.

OP, what other meds did your doctor give as options? Zepbound is far from the only option.

The side effects of being overweight are much worse.

+100. Aside from a mild nausea the day of or after my shot and occasional constipation I am having no bad effects

Wegovy. Compounded semaglutide. I've been battling diet/exercise for almost 2 years. I've started HRT. Doc believes the weight gain is due to perimenopause metabolic slowdown. I have other comorbidity issues (not diabetic but now teetering in the pre-diabetic range). I'm not 'obese' but definitely within the higher end of 'overweight' BMI.

Might be BMI was in the obese range, and when I got my blood work done before I started compounded tirzepatide (the affordable version of zepbound made in compounding labs) it turned out that I was already prediabetic. I have had extremely little side effects, except some occasional fatigue, which is cured by a 20 minute nap and early bedtime, and some mild constipation, completely offset with a couple of daily fiber gummy‘s. No nausea, no diarrhea, and thankfully no blurred vision. I would seriously consider this as the top option for weight loss if your body doesn’t respond to calorie deficit, strength, training, and exercise. For the record, I was already doing all of those things so I have changed almost nothing about my lifestyle except adding a ton of electrolytes to increase hydration. so I was doing a ton of things, I am at a tiny dose of GLP one of 2.5 and the weight and inflammation have fallen off. If you’re interested, I suggest you try it, and if you don’t like it, you’ll quickly know. I actually told no one I was taking it because I wanted to make the decision on my own with no bad vibes and judgment, it’s One of the best things I ever could’ve done for myself.
Perimenopausal woman with no weight issues until after I finished having kids, had a stubborn few pounds I couldn’t lose that crept up. Started in August at 175, currently 155, goal weight 140!

OP here, yeah I keep seeing people say it's the best decision they made. I got the Zepbound; will start this weekend. Insurance didn't cover it even with the comorbidities (hypertension and ASCVD). I may need to switch to an insurance that does cover it during open season. Is compounded tirzepatide available? I heard there's a moratorium of sorts because of an FDA issue.

I take Wegovy and I have zero side effects. Hope this is your experience too!

If you don’t have that much to use, didn’t your doctor have other options that might be covered?

Coverage to all GLP1 use similar criteria -- BMI over 30 or BMI/overweight with comorbidity. Then it depends on your insurance coverage. Some insurers/plans will cover the latter while others don't unless you have a specific plan with them. If you don't, you will have to do a compounded drug which is a lot cheaper through a compounding pharmacy (some are legit and some are not, FDA doesn't intervene without a complaint).

GLP1 isn’t the only option.

Didn’t the doctor provide info on various options? What type of doctor is prescribing this for you?

The side effects (nausea, fatigue) waned for me over time. Within 6 months I was down 40 pounds. Truly a miracle drug and worth every side effect.

Am really glad I did it after a decade of being 45 to 50 pounds overweight. Post menopausal so regular diet and exercise was not moving the needle at all.

+1. This has been my experience exactly. I would just say, until you realize what it is to walk around 30 lbs lighter, you can't quite imagine how good it feels. I would encourage you to work through any of these side effects. I had way worse ones when I got pregnant, and heck I did it two more times after that, just to get those little kiddos in my life. Highly recommend you give it a go!

I'm on Wegovy and I was really scared to start because of the potential side effects. Once I started, the side effects that I had were relatively mild and have lessened as my dosages have increased. The benefits have been so great that I now can't believe I was even worried about it.

No side effects at all except all I wanted to eat was radishes.
