Any other schools addressing past honors to racists?

My kids go to a former segregation academy. You have too much time on your hands, OP. Find real problems.

If you're not in favor of giving the building back to the Nacotchtank, then the racist is you.

As someone said earlier, a four letter name can be sandblasted off a building, or painted over, in an hour or two of work.

There is value in removing names honoring segregationists and racists---particularly since many of those names were put on school buildings to make clear to Black children and parents that the white majority believes that Black students don't belong in the school.

It's 2024. DC, including CHDS, can belatedly reject racism directed at children.

Weren’t all the older privates all-white segregated schools at one time? Should they remove the founders’ names?

Wilson should be pulled out of the Cathedral and buried upside down amongst Union soldiers at Arlington.

I couldn't believe that Wilson is entombed in the National Cathedral. I just looked it up and it's true. That's so fuc(ed up.

Criticizing a 1924 interment with 2024 eyes.

Sounds productive.

A crappy president, in addition to being a rabid racist. Kick him out of the cathedral and bury whatever is left someplace more appropriate.

Yes, very productive to spend a lot of money doing that.

There’s nowhere else that money could be better spent in 2024, right?

How much money do you think it would cost? His remains are in a marble tomb near some side altar in the cathedral, like he was a saint. Probably would take a few workers to open it up, take out the remains, stick them in a box, and bury the box in a cemetery somewhere. How much can that actually cost?

This Dent sign is far cheaper. Probably a few hundred dollars to remove the name.

Cost would be minimal to properly get the remains out of the cathedral and into a cemetery. Would need a couple of workers to open the truly odd marble tomb that sits by a side altar in the cathedral. Then bury them in a cemetery. Minimal cost and big improvement to the cathedral.

For CHDS, removing the name from the building would likely be a few hundred dollars.

Getting rid of Jim Crow remnants takes determination, not money.

The amount of energy that a parent community has is finite. Put it to better use, one that actually benefits the current student population.

Umm. Because maybe getting rid of what was done under Jim Crow does make clear that all are welcome. Would you prefer to have schools named after racists who worked for school segregation?

And truly, what energy does this take? Next to zero

“Umm.” Are you 12?

It’s impossible to take you seriously, little girl.
