That's baloney that it would never happen. I now teach in private after years in public. It absolutely could happen in private. You are right, though, that the kid would be gone. An assault that puts a staff member in the hospital would do that. If it were an assault that only caused minimal injuries? Eh, the kid would probably get counseling and then would be asked to "repair" with the teacher. That was my experience as a staff member repeatedly hit by a kid in a private school.

Of course it happens, just less often. Its hidden and rich parents can get it covered up more easily.

Surprised this didn't get more buzz immediately on this forum. Usually DCUM is on top of this stuff! I guess the Germantown parents aren't as active here?

Northwest has an SESES program (emotional disabilities) so that would be a reasonable guess.

I can also 100% guarantee this wasn't the only MCPS staff member hit by something, bitten, kicked, whatever, etc. today. Not sure why this one made the news.

So in other words, we should view this as normalized and not be concerned?

Not at all. But usually MCPS sweeps everything under the rug and nothing gets out except for rumors. I'm VERY surprised that someone from the school shared so much information. They'll be disciplined, because MCPS Central Office tells them not to do that.

The police and rescue were called (the victim went to the hospital), that's why. MCPS does cover up, but MCPD (police) and MCFRS (fire/rescue) do not.

If you remember the alleged gang rape at Rockville HS a few years ago, that only came to light because MCPD issued a press release. MCPS up to then was silent on it, including to parents who had kids at that school.

Yep. We have kids at Rockville and that was the case. I believe Weast was super at the time and he tried to pretend nothing happened until the police came out with the story.

Similar situation with the Damascus rape case. There was a good Washington Post article about that one.

Thankful for the guys who listen to the scanners and post this news on "X." Hope that today's victim is alright and that student involved does not bounce to another school.
