The first pound can be very significant. It was for me. I weighed myself regularly every morning for a long time to know that my weight fluctuates and the range within which it fluctuates on a daily basis. When that weight goes down a full pound below the normal range, especially when one has begun a specific weight-loss effort, one knows it is a genuine pound lost and the beginning of a weight loss journey. OP likely knows what her normal weight is and therefore is confident this is an actual lost pound.
