Managing expectations - weight loss late 30s

I have very similar stats to OP and 2000 calories is eating on deficit for me. At 1600 I would be starving. It really depends how much a person needs to lose. OP should just be more patient. She likely lost some fat already but it is masked by water retention caused by exercise. I would give it a few more weeks before lowering calories further. And OP by all means keep up with the strength training. I agree that it sounds like your muscle mass is very low and as a complete beginner you should be able to build some even in a deficit. For extra activity I would just walk. Most higher intensity cardio is unnecessarily stressful when you are dieting, particularly HIIT.

145 lbs (was 120 before kids)

Unfortunately lived a very sleep-deprived and sedentary lifestyle; emotionally ate garbage for years.

Joined a gym a month ago and have been regularly attending whole body strength training classes 4x/week and *really* changed my diet to eat clean without cheating (plant based). Using noom to count calories in the 1500-1800 range. I’ve gotten blood work done, all normal.

The scale hasn’t budged, my clothes still don’t fit. I still look 5-6 months pregnant from the side (but carry weight everywhere).

When can I realistically expect to start seeing some results? How can I otherwise kick start the weight loss?

I think it just takes more time. I’m late thirties and 1.5 years postpartum with my last, weigh more than you do. I started doing Orangetheory just over two months ago and am just now starting to lose weight and getting compliments.

It's a lifestyle change, not a temporary routine.

You have to try harder than you think the older you get. Most as much as possible and eat very little
