It really depends how much a person needs to lose. OP should just be more patient. She likely lost some fat already but it is masked by water retention caused by exercise. I would give it a few more weeks before lowering calories further. And OP by all means keep up with the strength training. I agree that it sounds like your muscle mass is very low and as a complete beginner you should be able to build some even in a deficit. For extra activity I would just walk. Most higher intensity cardio is unnecessarily stressful when you are dieting, particularly HIIT. [/quote]
