why are people impressed by these numbers when things are still test optional?

they could have easily emphasized GPA more even without race. Which in short is meaningless.

Cause there are test optional schools like Amherst with 3% black students…

Because they are still giving racial preferences. Will likely be added to any future lawsuit in addition to Yale and other schools whose diversity numbers didn’t drop.

They are have very high numbers of Asian American admits.
And I think the TO for them is kind of in name only …. I think most kids submit.

There’s no standing for this argument. No, increasing the amount of students on financial aid isn’t illegal. They do not even have access to the race of students, so this is a ridiculous assertion that is fueled by people who can’t fathom that there are qualified students of color.

It was awful. Encampments for months. Disrupting kids to class, exams.

Chicago and other big cities with sizeable Black populations are where my Black kids are interested in going to college at. Not rural LACs in upstate NY or Vermont or Iowa. He feels he'll stick out like a sore thumb there.

This-they only keep TO because of D1 athletics. 70-75% of the remaining apps are with test scores considered, esp if White or Asian.

Have you seen their campus? Also very responsive admin with ton of student resources. They, unlike UChicago, only have one binding round of admissions so numbers aren’t nearly as gamed…

I don’t know about last year but they have pretty strict rules this year restricting time place and manner of protests.
