Metro is cracking down on EATING on the Metro

Yes, eating has never been allowed but much easier for Metro police to deal with than turnstile jumping.

Metro needs to get its priorities in order.

I always wear a mask so obviously can’t eat

As anyone who has been on a NY subway across from some guy gnawing on chicken bones, which they then leave on the seat when they exit the train, I applaud this!

If you can't get thru a 10-40 minute metro ride without eating, you have issues

Yes it's called wanting to sleep in. get the eating done outside home and if metro is how they commute, that's where they're going to eat. Have you seen someone on a bike try to scarf down a meal while riding?

So then maybe they should put their big girl/big boy pants on and wake up earlier so as to not be such a lazy, rat-enabling child.

+1
Don’t eat on the train OP. It makes it nasty for everyone.

Agree! No one ever used to eat on the metro. We followed the rules. Then everyone stopped being able to follow rules and the metro ride became much less pleasant.

I am so glad someone talked to OP since was unable to follow the clearly visible signs.

And, by the way, they are cutting down on gate jumping.

That's called job creation.

Cyclists have some sort of liquid meal replacement they use.

What an excuse-maker you are!

One can certainly hope. This rider hasn’t seen any decrease in fast food bags, fried chicken bones, or spilled drinks in the cars on a late afternoon ride on the red line.

You have never been able to eat on the train. This is not NYC

I take metro 3 to 5 days a week. Both of my normal stations now have the higher fare gates. They’ve made a huge improvement. I think if you have to pay you are less likely to be the type of person who also eats, drinks and smokes on the metro.

I have noticed less random food and drink spilled in the trains, and less pot smell. I’ve also noticed a lot more officers and security personnel over the last 2 years or so.

I really think the biggest improvement is a result of the fare gates, not the security people. Sad that our city cannot function well on an honors system, but it’s reality.

Unpopular opinion indeed OP. I take metro a lot but l always wash my hands before eating something after I’ve taken public transport. Eating on a train or bus is not appealing.

Good. They should have arrested you.
