If he’s sick, he shouldn’t be going to school.

Sick kid sleep a lot. Is it really a surprise?

Really? Is he up playing video games all nights?

I could see on a rare occasion if sick, but sleeping until 3:30pm on a regular basis, is not normal

Have you never been a teen or do you not have teens?

They biologically can't fall asleep really early. They are also developing/growing a lot and need as much sleep as a newborn.

I do have a teen and that’s just not true. My teen (almost 15) goes to bed around 10 pm normally. We wouldn’t allow him to stay up past midnight unless it was like New Years or something. A sick kid? He’d be going to bed earlier. Absolutely not going to stay up past midnight. Parenting fail.

Yes he often does play games late. OK 3:30 PM would be extreme. But regularly after 12.

I’m going to be blunt. This is total loser behavior.

Never say never - I was very much a night owl and heavy late sleeper until I went into menopause. Now I wake up naturally between 5:30-6:30 every morning and am happy to hit the sack by 9:30-10 and usually asleep not longer after.

Body clocks change across a lifetime, especially into elder years when we don’t need as much sleep anymore.

He’s going to bed when you say but he’s not falling asleep doofus. Read the vast amounts of research on this matter.

Parenting fail in this case is thinking you can change nature.

For a 15yo to sleep past 12 on weekends? Nope. And he is definitely not a loser.
