Then he shows up on Friday Night Lights. I grew up in the world of the book Friday Night Lights and couldn't read the book or watch the movie. But by the time the TV show had arrived, I was far enough away from that world. Loved the TV show.

He’s real. He’s far from perfect but he’s sincere. He’s good looking but not a movie star hot. He’s masculine without the obnoxiousness or coolness - he’s confident and stubborn. I love him too!!!!

I read Minka Kelly’s autobiography. Her and the Tim Riggins character had an offscreen affair for awhile during the show.

I loved Tim. It was really cool how he was committed to his family and friends. I liked that he had a good ending that was realistic for the character. His dream was to stay in Dillon and get his own land, and he did.

So many shows have these amazing fantasy endings for the characters, but this was so much more true. Some people go and chase a dream far away, and some people buy a home where they grew up. Lylah went to college and became a businesswoman, but she came back home and reconnected with him. That was a great ending.

Wow, go Minka. She was on the FNL podcast with Street snd Saracen. She trained as a surgical scrub nurse. She said that she needed a career that she can do regardless of her looks. She said that her mother did not have backup career. I loved hearing her talk about her passion for the nursing job.

I’m on season 5 and have mixed feelings. I have enjoyed it and agree with much of what others have said.
But, I have a few issues with the show:
- how quickly Jason was able to start playing murderball and get around on his own
- how they were inconsistent with what grades everyone was in. One year, Tim and Lyla and Tyra are seniors, then they are again, and again. And if Matt and Landry were BFs, wouldn’t they have been in the same grade?
- what happened with Santiago?
- the problems they build up seem to suddenly disappear - Smash’s steroid use, Luke’s oxy addiction,
- they show could be so predictable at times. DH and I just watched the season 4 finale and we could see the ending coming from miles away.

Julie was one of the only teens who was played by a teen. I remember an interview with other young actors saying they hated being in scenes with her because it made it so obvious they weren’t teenagers.

It's a show. People just have to accept not all the plotlines in a show like this which essentially is a teen drama are 100% realistic. In the spirit of Streets character - the kid was such a leader and a star, you saw consistency in that. He accepted his condition immediately and he is who he is - he's going to find an outlet to rise athletically. Ever hear of paraolympics? The beauty of the plot is they showed him as someone who became as successful as he could be despite all limitations ie his ultimate future in NYC. They are a show. You can't drag out that desire for a second sport.

This is definitely the biggest prob. Absolutely. However the writing and the characters need to be focused on more than this issue. If you focus on their ages then don't watch it at all. I don't think it's so awful that it makes this show a flop entirely but agrees that this is a truly valid criticism that everyone shares.

He left. He was a side character. JD left. Epyck left. They were side characters. It's a damn HS. Life is messy and there's no closure. My biggest accolade of this show is that people all made mistakes. None of them were that perfect person. They messed up, made wrong choices, weren't sure what the right thing was. They had characters that just dropped out. Like life. You don't know why.

I mean Luke just had like 3-4 weeks on Oxy. Maybe. Smash too. It's not a soap. You just can't get this serious. It's a damn HS show about football. The plot is about the team not about drug use. It's about exploring why they would use drugs and these bad decisions. It's about how they stopped. Not a soap about drugs ruining your life.

You should not watch this show if you are watching for plot. This is a made up story cause it's TVland. The focus is on characters and themes. Not plot. You know opera? You should never ever go to an opera. Everyone dies at the end of 99% of famous operas. You go to listen to the beautiful music not to watch what happens.
