| This is why college is so expensive. It’s gone lux! |
I’m a parent. |
Read it again. Orig post said resume help IS typical as an example of what does not apply. |
| All books and materials included in tuition. At the start of school you just go to the bookstore and they've already assembled everything you need, you just pick it up. |
I wish my daughter’s school would do this. I know Randolph included it-I just loved that little school. |
A friend shared her child’s school in Wis does this. I was excited that my daughter only spent @$20 on books this semester-she has since added a class and I think it is now @$30? Much better than my experience |
OP here: this is a very nice perk UNLESS the pricing makes it not worth it. I know several schools have a program where all books are at included in one fee based on credit hours, but it is usually not worth it. It’s called All Access. |
We don't see any fee for it, just rolled into tuition and the school is generous with merit so we're paying about the same in tuition as my other kid at a VA state school. |
DC had a free trip (airfare, hotel, meals, ground transportation, lots of swag and activities) across the country to a well-rated SLAC after being accepted. Ultimately chose not to go there, but had not heard of that before. |
| I don’t think this is atypical become other colleges do it but not every college. DC was assigned a business mentor for a year in a niche industry. Meet and greets. Dinners. Shadow days. |
| Oberlin lets students check out an original piece of art from its collection at the beginning of each year to hang in the student’s dorm room. |
| I love hearing these things! |
| My daughter's school has an agreement with Enterprise for very cheap, on campus car rentals. 5 bucks an hours. She and her friends use it to make trips to Target or to drop off or pick up each other at the airport. It can be a bit tough to schedule cars though, since it's very popular. |
Good one |
Dc’s college has the same with zip car! It’s pretty convenient. |
