495 and 270 have devolved into Mad Max land

That would be great if they were actually a deterrent. You think the guys racing give AF about those tickets?

If they raise insurance and eventually take licenses from repeat offenders it should help.

Oh honey

I had a guy pass me on the left by straddling the line and going between my car and the car next to me in his lane. This was on 495.

I was just reading a separate thread on DCUM on Usman Shahid, the piece of human garbage who killed two girls in Oakton/Vienna ages 14 and 15. He was driving over 80 MPH in a residential area. And he just got sentenced to a grand total of 4 Years for killing those girls. So not only are these guys recklessly endangering our lives, but there is no real justice when they kill our families. WTF is wrong... lack of will to enforce our laws, and lack of ability to punish even the most egregious offenders.

Transit police don’t police 495 or 270. The State Police do primarily with MCPD backing up.
Not sure who you saw but transit police have no jurisdiction and wouldn’t be pulling people over on those roads.

Impound the vehicle for a length of time. Vehicle not released until time has passed and hefty fine is paid.

And to think pre-pandemic I was pulled over by the MD State Police after entering 495 at River Road because I had a brake light out. I thought it was ridiculous to pull someone over on a busy highway for a brake light.

Do you really think people who drive like that have a license or insurance?? Come on.

You think Tesla drivers don’t have insurance?

That area is really dangerous. I agree with everything you've said OP. I feel terrified to have my teens driving on 495 and 270 given what it's like and the lack of police enforcement.

People have become apathetic about how dangerous it is.

Who to make a complaint to about this? Our MD representatives?

Yes, that's why the Federal government is pushing for non-racist traffic enforcement so that police focus on maintaining public safety instead of harassing and murdering black drivers.

But I'm sure you thought you were clever.

These crazy drivers are WORSE when they see a student or new driver notice on the car. Never have I ever been passed on the right so many times as when doing driving practice with my teen.

OP back. This is not a race issue, it's a public safety issue. Anybody driving as recklessly as I saw this morning should be pulled over and their car impounded. A few examples will have an impact. Cars racing down 495 and 270 at 90 to 100 MPH weaving in and out of lanes should easily be seen by an undercover policeman. Doesn't matter what race the driver is -- and it's probably not even discernible until after they roll down their tinted window.

Thank you for posting this as this travesty should be shared and known by all. It is utterly shameful that two young girls lost their lives and all they were doing was WALKING HOME FROM SCHOOL. That is all they were doing while this 20 year old driving a BMW tore down a residential street at 80+ miles and took their lives. His "punishment" is a 4 year sentence. FOR BOTH MURDERS. So each young girl's life is only worth 2 years punishment. Disgusting.

This is easily a case where I wish the families of those girls wait out those pathetic 4 years and achieve justice themselves. I swear that is what I would do if facing the same situation.

I think a lot of people agree with you. What can we do about it?

You are a terrible citizen. I think a few years of hard labor will teach you some valuable lessons.
