Diesel use is going up because -- shocker! -- MCPS deployed more diesel buses, particularly for (apparently increasing) special routes.

New developments in the diesel and electric fleet saga.

Fixed it for you. Data is from MCPS. |
That isn’t what the article says. If you read Taylor’s memo last week, the EVs don’t hold a charge for the whole day and can’t be used on mid day runs. The EVs can’t replace diesel. |
Data is from MCPS but the manipulation of the data is from parents coalition, as usual. |
What manipulation? McKnight was clear that consumption of diesel would go down. Did the Parents Coalition make her lie? |
They aren't lying, the cost-benefit isn't there. |
If your position is that somehow, the Parents Coalition is in the wrong here and not MCPS, then you're not engaging in this conversation with honesty and integrity. Say whatever you want about the MOTIVES of the Parents Coalition, but they have repeatedly, on this issue, done nothing but report facts and expose MCPS for the corrupt entity that it is. |

Given all that is going on surrounding the purchase of buses, approving this in closed session is very poor decision making lacking awareness of how such decision would be viewed, regardless of procedure. Heck, even as a consent item during a general BOE open session someone should have been sure it was openly talked about even if the BOE members had no questions. |
The contract was approved during the open session, not the closed session. Item 6.2: https://go.boarddocs.com/mabe/mcpsmd/Board.nsf/goto?open&id=D67HLW490E12 But I agree that a board member could have pulled the item as an opportunity to share more information with the public before the vote. |
You mean discussed in closed session and rubber stamped in open meeting. |
They use coal and diesel to make the electricity for the busses. |
Now BOE is hiding all these discussions. What happened to their plan for an all electric bus fleet? |
