Yep, go ahead and blame it on the coach again.

And yet this board makes it their pleasure to crap all over both clubs.

Nobody cares about ECNL boys. MLSNext.

Except some people do (and not for nothing, having played a few MLS Next teams, it's a whole lot of hype for a league that also has some very good teams and some very shite teams (plus everything in between). There's literally no reason for you psychos to keep crapping all over ECNL boys. Who hurt you?

I assume you aren't ignorant enough to be making comparisons between quality of teams based on preseason scrimmages where coaches are mixing and experimenting with lineups?

Why is it that only MLSN and MLS Academies are experimenting with lineups? Wouldn't this be true of all teams int he pre-season? What's the excuse gonna be mid-season or later? The reality is that there are good, bad, and in-between teams in both leagues. But the narrative that it's MLSN/Academy or bust is just exhausting. I guess according to you folks, everyone who isn't on MLSN/Academy should just give up and quit?

If my kid is trying to go pro and can’t even get on an MLSNext team, yes. If college is the goal, then many other teams are fine depending on what kind of college experience is sought.

I have no doubt that non MLSN teams are as good as a team, even better, but a clubs winning percentage is very low on priority when we only care about whether our kid is being properly developed and getting better. only two clubs in the dmv area meet that criteria for us.

If ECNL coaches weren’t using the preseason games to prep for the season, but rather were out there focused on tactics and winning, then that further adds to the fact that their level is lower.

Kids not in Premier League academies in England don't give up and quit the sport.
So why should kids in America not at MLS Club Academies quit the sport?

Oh it’s you again- blaming the MLS losses on coaches ‘experimenting’ and not really playing. Yawn.

Alien concept to you, but, there are teams and coaches in youth soccer who have other priorities than the scoreboard.

Scoreboard is a singular performance indicator for ignorant parents

There is no CLUB or ACADEMY in the dmv area that prioritizes development over winning. Clubs want to win to make their parents happy. Clubs want to win, especially over other local clubs, to show that they are better so they can recruit players.

Don't get me wrong, there are some good coaches at younger ages that have this mentality, but most coaches don't and once your kid gets into U15-U19 ages, it's all about winning.

Plus, if you have a kid that is dreaming of going pro, good for him. Every kid should have high expectations and dreams. Even if they don't reach that goal, they may find a sport that they love and play their whole life, which will keep them fit and involved in something positive.

And it is your job as a parent to set extremely high goals for him, like making an MLSNext team yearly, and to crush those dreams at a young age if he can't make an MLSNext team.

It's parents with this Ricky Bobby-like attitude that "if you're not first, you are last" that turn soccer loving kids into haters of the sport.

Enjoy the journey and stop thinking that there is only one pathway for every player. Who really cares if an ECNL team or a MLSNext team is better from one year to another. It's all about how each player progresses on their journey and attaining goals that the player sets for themselves.

Is there an academy in the world that doesn't start to add winning to the development philosophy after U15?
