Possibly more antisemitic vandalism at Mcps

what about if it’s a hate crime?

Wootton has had previous hate based incidents towards the lgbt community. It’s tolerated.
More needs to be done.

Honestly even if there is camera footage you might never hear about it again . Around 7 years ago there was a noose incident at the NMAAHC in dc. There was surveillance footage of the incident and still 7 years later the interior dept nor the U.S. park police have released the video nor provided and update to the story

Max 3 years in prison, $5000/fine. MDcriminal law 10-301.

In the Bethesda ES case, I saw a photo of the graffiti and I recall, it could be argued it was not a hate crime, but rather political, as it was about Israel and the war. I'm not aware of the content of today's incident.

At least one school was defaced with a swastika and "Hitler"

"They" who?

MCPS needs to come out publicly and call this what it is….vile anti-semitism! A public message needs to go out naming it and condemning it!

I’m hopeful that under this new leadership, there will be a stronger stance.

Honestly, I think we need to change the laws to name and shame juveniles if they commit these kinds of crimes. The protection afforded to them by the legally required anonymity is what emboldens them to do this crap.

How do you know juveniles did this?

We don’t but usually it’s juveniles who are students

What can be done if they don't know who vandalized the school?

If they only had camera's....

That's who's usually responsible for school-based vandalism.

At Bethesda ES, it was done on the sign out by the street. Any building-mounted cameras may not show much (the sign would obscure anyone). I wonder if the vandals were stupid enough not to wear hoodies and face masks or other disguise.

Here is that discussion about Bethesda Elementary in the now locked thread: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1221575.page
