Yes, to save battery. I like to play stupid games on my phone or listen to audiobooks and without airplane mode it burns battery fast

Cell service works until a few minutes after take off.

I stopped. For some reason, airplane mode always throws my phone out of wack when switching time zones. It takes several times of powering on/off to sync in the new zone.

My DH is such a rule follower he turns airplane mode on as soon as he steps on the plane. Even if we are just sitting. He’s obnoxious.

I often forget and feel guilty but I do wonder if it makes any difference. Clearly it doesn’t if majority turn it off. If the majority of people left phones on with no airplane mode would that be an issue? I don’t understand the issue well enough to know.
