Price gouging as her first policy announcement? Really?

^^ I should have specified federal

Only 7 states do NOT have price-control laws that can be activated in emergencies

Anyway, if Trump says inflation is due to BIden-Harris policies, what does he offer other than the ridiculous proposals about not taxing tips or SS? (a lot of people don't pay taxes on SS and a lot of tipped workers don't make enough to pay income taxes, plus not taxing those just deprives them of future SS benefits)

I’m sure Trump has many inflation busting proposals in his Project 2025 plan.

It sure is! The owners/shareholders are making bank while regular Americans are carefully counting their pennies at the store.

I guess I’m not surprised that MAGA is pro-price gouging

What do you think?

how many threads have been started about "inflation?"

What is the first thing mentioned as complaint about the current administration?

Inflation.

The inflation is corporate greed. She wants to take it on.

Trump said he wants to reduce prices, but offered no specifics as to how he intends to do that.

Taking on price gouging, adding to the supply of housing, reducing drug costs all help every day Americans.

Most of them have been, the past couple years. There's data.

Please tell us about this data and where it is.

Look in the "Biden Economy" thread...there have been a hundreds posts with the data.

Tariffs (inflationary)
exporting migrant workers (inflationary)
VAT tax system (disproportionately hurts the middle and working class)

OP back. Can’t believe people asked me to post links. Read the article - the criticism is not good.

All the "data" in that thread consists of comments that corporations are making record profits. That is not data that supports a thesis of price gouging.

I think we should negotiate prices at the market like in the old days

Umm the only criticism in this article is from a right wing think tank guy who was not being terribly specific. It was pretty informative though.

The FTC under Biden is already doing it.
