As for the bail system in this country, it's ridiculous, antiquated, and preys on the poor.

He’s a danger to his other kids.

Oh right, yes, there are so many repeat offenders in hot car accidents. It’s a real shame.

How can you be this stupid?

He has shown the absolute worst kind of negligence for his child's safety, if not worse. He mustn't be near children. The judge even acknowledged that.

He can’t be near them alone. They must be directly supervised by another adult. What do you think is going to happen?

NP. I think what is going to happen is:

- he (and mom) will pressure the two other kids to change their story and claim he never left them in the car alone

-mom assured the judge that she would watch the kids. I think it’s impossible for mom to watch the kids 24-7 and she will let the defendant dad watch the kids.

- He probably won’t lock them in the car anymore, but he will probably lock them in their rooms while he resumes his video gaming and drinking.

These are not good people.

I usually have a lot of sympathy for these hit car deaths, especially after reading the gene Weinstein article.

But his older daughter makes it sound like this was a real pattern. Why on earth this anesthesiologist stayed with him is the real question.

+1 it seems like some posters here didn’t read the older thread and aren’t familiar with the facts. This is very far from the typical hot car death, which is something I’m usually sympathetic about.

Idk, he’s charged with first degree murder of one of his own kids. Not a stretch to say he shouldn’t be near the other.

His oldest from another relationship was also removed from his home with ES by the state. That child has spoken out about similar treatment, including being left in the car in AZ for hours while very young, even without food, despite her being a T1. She was suicidal by the time of removal.

That Scholtes and his wife were said to be pressuring/witness tampering by the 5 and 9 year olds is concerning. That ES wanted to get the young, grieving kids to watch daddy taken away in cuffs was also disturbing. LE said they didn't need to see that and stopped her.

Christopher Scholtes admitted he had a lot of bad habits — that he was an addict who drove at high speeds with his three daughters in the car after he’d been drinking and that he let them nap inside the vehicle on blistering hot days while he played video games and watched pornography, court records show.

In text messages he exchanged with his wife, Erika Scholtes, he admitted to all these practices in the months leading up to their 2-year-old daughter’s death.

Parker Scholtes, their youngest of three, died after being left in a hot Acura MDX July 9 outside the family’s home in Marana.

The National Weather Service recorded the high for the day at 109 degrees, and the girl’s body reached 108 degrees by the time paramedics got to the scene, according to an autopsy report that confirmed heat exposure as the cause of death.

What a prize. Now he's back in the house due to her pleas to judge, both witness tampering re: young surviving daughters.

Next hearing on 9/10. Really thought he might be held on the elevated charges, especially after the other young kids told LE that he was pressuring them to lie about death of baby sister. Or at least removed from the home. His wife is not working since he was ordered not to be alone with the remaining kids, how is that sustainable when he has not had a job in years?

I really thought the doctor wife might have made a clean break, Scholtes' oldest child from another rx was removed by AZ years ago for conduct similar to that which killed the toddler.

The wife seems to be a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

Scholtes had been trying to schedule a doctor’s appointment and decided to drive down to their office with Parker since he was having trouble reaching the doctor by phone, investigation documents say. On his way back home from the office, he stopped at a gas station and a grocery store.

Surveillance footage from both businesses show he went in alone, meaning Parker was possibly left in the hot car both times, and that he shoplifted beer in both stores.

All before lunch. Drunk loser killer.

Well that's pretty damning. What a waste of space this guy is.

I agree with you, in general, but it’s hard to imagine that someone charged with first degree child abuse and murder of a child wouldn’t be a danger to his other children.

Particularly as he exhibited the same reckless behavior towards them and they reported witness tampering by both parents in the context of an active investigation. Young grieving kids should not be put under that kind of pressure in their home imo.

I was just thinking of this case and googled about it, and found out that this POS, the wife, and their 2 remaining kids are going to Hawaii while awaiting trial (as PP mentioned). I cannot wrap my head around what’s going through the wife’s head.
