S/O Where did you absolutely LOVE?

Thailand (Bangkok and Phuket). I was so worried about having issues with the water/food, mosquitos, heat and humidity, and just general culture shock. None of that was an issue (it was hot and humid, but there was plenty of A/C). The people are lovely, the vibe was laid back, and the food was delicious and so cheap. Would go back, and this was a place that I never wanted to go in the first place.

Bermuda - stunningly gorgeous

Liguria, Italy - totally charming and not overrun with tourists when we went

Iceland - unique geology, gorgeous vistas around every corner. Wasn't terribly popular or crowded when we went.

Palm Springs - I really love the desert

Adirondacks - Big, deep, clear lakes surrounded by impressive mountains. As an ocean-lover I never gave lakes enough credit.

OP here and I *loved* Bermuda. Would return in a heartbeat. It’s not particularly interesting but so, so beautiful.

Bavarian countryside

On my one and only trip to the Amalfi Coast I stayed in Ravello. Incredibly charming.

Ghent, Belgium. Totally unexpected. Very small, not touristy and really enjoyed it. It's often overlooked by Bruges which is cute, but is very touristy and felt sort of Disney-ish to me.

I also love Madrid. I think the people who don’t like it were probably there for only a day and didn’t get the chance to really visit the city.

Bocas del Toro

And I’m obsessed with Anguilla. But I kind of assumed that would happen based on photos alone.

None of it was budget travel. Though you could go budget to all of them

Vermont. It was exactly as you picture it—small towns, green mountains, laidback and friendly people. It made me want to buy hiking boots or take up skiing or do something else outdoorsy.

Busan, South Korea. I didn't think I'd like it so much, but the beaches and surrounding areas are sooo clean.

The Wild Coast, South Africa. Still my favorite place in the world.

Looking at it from the “and you did not expect to” lens vs just all the spots I have loved: Lithuania. Surprisingly charming and interesting history.

Why didn't you buy hiking boots?
