Lower numbers with lifestyle only

If you're predisposed to having high cholesterol, there's nothing you can do. You need meds. My mother is almost 70 and has always been very thin, never ate badly, never drank or smoked. Exercises daily. She has HC

For people who don't react well to statins and already have done the lifestyle (have genetic HC) would docs prescribe Ozempic? It gets the same results, right?

How long did it take to get to normal? I don’t want to go back on statins because I had some bad neuropathy last time I was on them. I’ve been considered ‘pre diabetic’ for the past 10 years too. Weird thing is my bmi is in the high normal range so technically not overweight but doc says to lose 10%.

Losing 5-10 lbs or 10% may fix the prediabetes. It can be an effective temporary (5-10 years) or permanent cure for diabetes.

BMI ranges are just supposed to be an indicator of health and doesn't work for everyone. Sounds like it doesn't really work for you personally. Also, if you're east Asian, you should consider using the Japanese BMI scale, which puts people at overweight earlier due to their research for when their population tends to suffer from obesity related conditions.

Yes, I lowered my total cholesterol by 56 points. Agree with previous poster…low saturated fats (under 15 g per day), increased fiber to 25+ grams per day. Less red meat and cheese. Switched to nonfat or low-fat dairy for milk and yogurt. Eat oatmeal. Add things like flax seed, chia seeds, and walnuts to smoothies, oatmeal, and yogurt. Added in lots of fruit and veg, beans, lentils, and whole grains. When I make a salad I’ll add a grain like quinoa or barley which actually also helps with satiety. Make sure to drink lots of water as you increase the fiber.
