Family visiting from London - what food is better here?

Definitely Chinese and Korean. There's some decent Japanese food in London (e.g., Eat Tokyo) but can't say the same about the others.

A bit similar to Mexican but different enough -- Latin American, especially Peruvian or Brazilian maybe.

Cuban, American BBQ like 2fifty BBQ, Korean BBQ. You could take them to an Asian Food Hall so they can experience different kinds.

I found London had surprisingly good Italian food and also Chinese food. I guess neither of those should be surprising — Britshave vacationed in Italy since forever and used to own Hong Kong.

Agree Ethiopian, bagels, pancake house, fusion stuff like China Childano, South America like La Limena, bbq, Mexican (cielo rojo is good) or Salvadoran. And maybe Korean? I don’t think I saw many Korean restaurants in London.

There Chinese restaurants *everywhere* in the UK.

My spouse is from there, not London. One sibling lives up north and one south, and they all have decent Chinese restaurants.

Skip Chinese. Go with Sushi, Thai, Vietnamese and Korean.

Wagamama is pretty big in the UK, but it's fusion Asian, so to get more of an authentic cuisine experience you could take them to these individual restaurants.

There are some, but I didn't think they were that great.

Pizza, plain or fancy.

Pizza? If they’ve ever been to Italy, I’d skip pizza here.
But second Tex/mex or Mexican.
Barbecue

Chinese food in the UK sucks, sorry. I'm not sure that would be the place I'd take a Londoner out to eat but our Chinese food is way better.

Burgers, southern food (either Ruthie’s or even District Biscuit in Del Ray), BBQ, sushi and Mexican.

+1. DC is at Cambridge; can't get a good burger anywhere

NY or Chicago style pizza is it's own thing and worth a stop. DC pizza isn't nearly as good.

OP here. Thanks for the tips! I should have mentioned that they will go to both NY and Chicago (but not west coast), so I will skip the pizza here.

I was thinking there may be good Ethiopian in England but maybe not?

OP, these are really cute videos:

The headmaster tries the food too.

If I recall, Popeyes was a huge hit, as was southern food!

I mean, they are coming from London not the sticks, and everything is so global nowadays (we can all order kit kats from japan via amazon and giant sells wine gums). I like your tex-mex idea, but otherwise I’d just try to take them to good restaurants!
