And I know an OOS TO kid who was admitted. Two anecdotes. |
Similar for my Cornell bound kid. Got into several of these schools and WL at Michigan. |
Awesome, my DC attending Cornell as well! I make jokes with my DC that DC wasn't able to get into Michigan, but I was able to get in for both undergrad and grad/phD in Engineering. |
| maybe the stellar stats kids didnt have an essay as to why michigan? yield protection? |
Not in my case. Think it was other admits from school? Unclear. |
|
My DS got in to LSA ‘28 with a 1550+ SAT and academic-heavy background.
He just seemed to make sense for the LSA—and had a good discussion on why UMich given his profile. Other common app essays were ok. But this UMich essay was much easier for him to write. He’s going and super happy! |
What does LSA look for? What types of kids? |
lol 2021 very very different circumstances |
Whatever you say.... as if those stats would get automatically rejected even today. Dork. |
As in if you want to attend, apply in August. Definitely do not wait until Nov 1 for EA |
Really? I have never heard this before. So applying in September or early October really makes a difference? |
NP. I think in a way it displays demonstrated and the application gets an early read (just my guess) before the flood of applications in November. |
A mediocre essay will not get you into Michigan even with stellar stats. |
I have heard this. Early September at latest. We are at an out of state private HS, but also in the Midwest and this has always been an urban legend. |
| does DI count? is it important to tour in person? |
