Agree. She should be getting at least $200. Don’t be cheap, PP. |
I think monthly will cost more. Harder to coordinate other monthlies for that day of the week, more dirt built up between cleanings. |
I would pay more too but housecleaners sometimes give breaks to longer time customers. Those older customers give references, big holiday bonuses and maybe their houses are pleasant and the people are pleasant. My cousin had a housekeeper who did not increase her fees for forever (my cousin just gave her small raises each year anyway) but her house was already meticulous and my cousin has a really sweet personality. |
| In DC proper, 2400 sq ft, $250 every other week for two cleaners. They spend about 6 hours and do lots of extras (clean in the oven and microwave, wash sheets, wipe down cabinets and appliances, etc). We started at $180k, but like the PP, we have given raises each year to keep them happy. They do a good job and they could get more now if they gave our slot away. |
My housecleaner is a sole proprietor and if I didn’t just give her a raise every year, I don’t think she’d ask for one. Everyone is within their rights to shop around for low cost cleaning, but if you’re in a long term relationship with someone you like, make sure it’s fair. It’s a pretty intimate relationship and I hold all the power. |
That's a hell of a deal. 6 hours each, or 3 hours * 2 people? |

$185 once per month, 2000 sq ft house (wish I could afford every two weeks!). It was $165 a few years ago and I try to bump it up &10 every year, but they have never asked for a raise. I also give more at the holidays.
They are a lovely team of 3 women I found through my neighborhood group. I am so lucky to have found them. |
| service. 130 for weekly. 4000 sq foot house. it was 200 for every other week. |
Same size house and what I pay, as well. Small local company. They aren’t very detail-oriented, but do a good job on the bathrooms, kitchen, and floors. For this price I am willing to compromise a bit. |
