I would pay more too but housecleaners sometimes give breaks to longer time customers. Those older customers give references, big holiday bonuses and maybe their houses are pleasant and the people are pleasant. My cousin had a housekeeper who did not increase her fees for forever (my cousin just gave her small raises each year anyway) but her house was already meticulous and my cousin has a really sweet personality.[/quote]

My housecleaner is a sole proprietor and if I didn’t just give her a raise every year, I don’t think she’d ask for one. Everyone is within their rights to shop around for low cost cleaning, but if you’re in a long term relationship with someone you like, make sure it’s fair. It’s a pretty intimate relationship and I hold all the power. [/quote]
