Please stop. No one needs more candy. And I say this as someone who isn’t crazy strict about my kids’ diets - they are definitely allowed candy. But they don’t need any after a birthday party that already had sugar.

No. It makes the birthday kid happy and makes the kids attending happy.

+1

Be a parent and tell them they can't have all the candy immediately and they need to save someone of it for later.

Agree. People just can’t stop. It’s always more sugar, more junk, more everything. Land of excess

I once handed out an age appropriate inexpensive book. All the same, of course, to prevent sobs.

We give out objects related to the party— pool party every kid got a noodle and some reusable balloons and a beach ball. Anyone who didn’t need/want them didn’t have to take one, and there were plenty of extras for siblings.

I just give chupa chups.

+1. Can’t think of a time we attended a party without one or the other being given, in the last 8 years

Yes they are in…in the garbage as soon as they get home. Not joking.

Definitely goody bags if they've received them from others. When in Rome...

Doesn't have to be over the top though. Think pirate themed party and a treasure chest full of dollar store / party city booty for 7 and unders. Could be filled with anything. Also great times for the ride home.

This. I try to be creative but simple. When my DD was in K, she had a princess themed party where everyone dressed as a Disney princess. I have out little golden books on theme that were $3.99 each.

I’m fine with favors as long as they are not the cheap plastic junk. Don’t waste your money on that - a cookie, candy, hair ties, a book, even a notebook and pen, will all get used.

This year, we had a painting party and the painting was their favor.

I always give snacks in the goody bags.

Goldfish, Pringles, Piirate's booty, Rice Krispy bars. Then add one ring pop or fruit by the foot.

Give them a gift card for $10 for 5 Below.

Anything plastic from the dollar store is total junk and don't let my kids take it. You can avoid being over the top while also not giving out landfill garbage.
