And a line that didn't line up with anything and covered up the attacker's knee.

Goal or no goal, US was going out…to a Uruguay team that had nothing to play for.

Yeah, the ref didn't decide the outcome. The VAR crew certainly had a say in it -- I've always thought the lines that appear on offside reviews exude a false sense of precision, and this line was drawn over the defender's knee. But the ref's botched calls, like giving Adams a yellow when he's the one who was fouled, didn't decide it.

As a ref, though, I found it painful to watch. He screwed up basic things like this (from the Laws of the Game):

"Once the referee has decided to caution or send off a player, play must not be restarted until the sanction has been administered, unless the non-offending team takes a quick free kick, has a clear goal-scoring opportunity and the referee has not started the disciplinary sanction procedure."

The ref had the card in his hand when Uruguay took the quick kick. Then he suddenly raises both hands to signal "advantage."

And then there's the time he waited until the USA had moved the ball 40 yards up the field before blowing the whistle to give them a free kick way back in their own half. Pulisic was at midfield with the ball and momentum. It would've been a good advantage call if he hadn't stopped the US attack dead!

Simply terrible.

They rehired Berhalter after the disaster of a World Cup. It was a below average performance, he was out coached in each game and self-inflicted scandals yet was rehired. Berhalter is going nowhere.

Greg is going nowhere and the US is going nowhere. This is not a golden generation.

We aren't allowed to have nice things.

We need to move on, after his contract ran out after the WC I was sure we'd pick someone new after such a lackluster showing.

But no! More of the same!

The players are decent, if not remarkable, and represent enough talent that reasonable people could expect better results.

At this point, what's to lose? Could we do worse than losing to Panama and being ejected on home turf in the Group stage?

What a useless coach and team.

This shows the soccer level in the US. Again, once the system does not change, coaches and leagues will still favor the fast and tall kid over the talented player with a soccer IQ. This might provide short-term results internally. No long-term, as witnessed.

You looked at the history of the US team members?
Majority of starters didn't come through the US youth system
(if you care about truths and facts)

This coach is not capable of managing these guys playing for top coaches in Europe

What happened at the WC with Gio and his parents was a Tuesday night at a large club in Europe. Gregg was unable to manage both the off the field stuff and the on field stuff. These players know there will be no consequences for getting beat on the field. Gregg will roll out the same players and his very predictable system. None one is scared to play the US.

Did everyone quit watching after US was eliminated?

Depends on which club kids play for in a household
