Just drive the beltway and Rt. 50 and the findings will be conclusive. MD drivers are the worst and the most dangerous.

Maryland has some awful drivers. Yes.

But pedestrians are hit on these roads?

Do pedestrians make good choices in MD?

You think there are more fatal pedestrian crashes because people in MD are worse at walking?

It's Maryland driver logic.

Maryland drivers are FAR less likely to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks, in my experience. They almost take it as a challenge to ignore you.

This is the Maryland attitude. It's all about challenging and winning. It's such small-dick thinking really. I swear there are micro-penis men there who would rather hit you than yield, no matter who is wrong. There's no attitude of "wow let's just be defensive drivers, all of us". Can't let anyone else "win".

I’m a different poster but believe it or not I do think this is a factor. When I drive Veirs Mill in Wheaton, people regularly walk right in front of me when I’m going 40 mph on a major road. This must either be customary in the countries they come from, or they come from places with smaller roads and fewer cars.

Are they in a crosswalk? If not, are they at an unmarked intersection where there is an implied crosswalk where you are supposed to stop for pedestrians? Why are you driving 40 MPH in a place where there are pedestrians?

Op must be terribly bored and hot to have started this trollish topic once again! Congrats!! I am sure you will get the 25 or so pages you desire. I am going to focus on the real issues and problems of the world and in no particular order:

1. 2024 election
2. War in Gaza
3. War in Ukraine
4. Expansion of war in Gaza and Ukraine

worried about wars that we don't even talk about or see that are coming
5. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/slew-new-conflicts-erupt-2024-analysts-say-world-watching-gaza-ukraine-rcna131563?ref=upstract.com

6. Putin and Russia aggression
7. North Korea and Kim Jong Un
8. China
9. North Korea, Russia and China joining forces

10. Global warming
12. Ice caps melting
13. more severe storms
14 migration
15 Immigration
16 lack of housing and health care for all citizens of the world\
17. animal extinction
18 Animal suffering and dying due to horrible humans
19 children dying and suffering
19 senior citizens dying, suffering or being abused emotionally or physically
20 tons of other stuff but, it is too hot to list

Anyhoo, there are some bad drivers in Maryland and some bad drivers elsewhere. Remember, most Marylanders ( especially here) come from all over. So is it really "Maryland" to be blamed for all the bad drivers? If a good driver from Maryland moves to Virginia are you giving credit to Virginia for them to be a good driver? I hope not!

Good grief

This is not true. I stop for everyone and drive the speed limit. Which people hate because it is much lower than it used to be ( Georgia avenue 25 miles per hour) But, if it brings you joy thinking YOU are superior go for it.

It doesn’t matter whether I’m driving in VA, DC, or MD. 9/10 times I am cut off or see someone speeding and weaving their way through traffic, it is a car with Maryland tags. It’s uncanny.

Counterpoint - I am white, multi-generation American, Advanced degrees (all to say, this isn’t an OtHeR cUlTuReS issue), and live in Bethesda. Despite a walking culture, plentiful crosswalks, hawk signals, etc I take my life into my hands everytime I cross Wisconsin because the drivers (of all states and DC, VA is plentifully represented) don’t follow law and yield to pedestrians. My 80 year old neighbor was hit because some impatient jerk raced into the third lane when the other two lanes were yielding and is fortunately not dead.
They are speeding, distracted, and just plain entitled glassbowls who believe that rules are for other drivers.

Yes to the pp. Roads are geared towards drivers and cars. The time you get to cross a major road is too short. Forget if you are elderly or disabled. I have to sprint across not to get hit!

What's uncanny is your bias. I see plenty of bad VA and DC drivers. Heck my car was totaled by a DC driver when it was parked and we were sleeping. The DC driver was drunk and hit my car so hard it got turned around and placed in the middle of the street.

And yet, I am not a child so I do not blame "ALL DC DRIVERS"

Tell me you've never driven in lower income parts of MD without telling me...

Op's post is tied to some of the items on the list. They want to paint cars as evil and see them go away so we can "save the environment", but really to ensure that we all live near each other so we can control each other's lives for the dream of collectivism. Suburbs and highways are evil.
