What was your "oh snap, I'm old now" moment?

I felt great until 45, when all of a sudden, my knees were giving me pains and I had to see a rheumatologist. Diagnosed with 2 autoimmune issues.

I've had knee problems my whole life and back problems since an injury in college. I've always been able to power through the discomfort and bounce back quickly. I realized I was getting old when that didn't happen anymore.

I'm a man. Hopefully it's not peri-menopause.

People blame everything on perimenopause these days. Glad for the reminder that sometimes it’s just plain old aging.

In 2022 and 2023, when I noticed my heat tolerance wasn't what it was in 2018. In 2018 I was walking 5 miles in 100 degree weather, with hat and water.

When I referenced something about Sean Connery at work and the interns were like, "who?"

I got arthritis when I was 18, so I've never felt that way. BTW, it's going to rain tomorrow.

Darn, I’m suppose to golf tomorrow!

Figure skating ~ I had just gone out on the ice and realized I hadn't taken my Advil. It was crucial enough that I got off the ice, drove to the nearest store to buy it, take it, before returning to the ice. That was the last time on the ice and now I've grown cautious and don't want to risk an injury.

He’d be 94 if he were still alive today….

Three years ago I passed out after playing golf and walking 18 holes on a very hot and humid day. My son, a doctor, quickly reminded that at 70 I should know better. Except, he was far more direct.

The #1 cause of death for women is heart disease. Doctors should know about the uptick in heart issues at menopause, but many do not. See Oprah re this in particular.

I was playing soccer with my son the other day and he sent me an errant pass and I told my body to run for it... and it was like when you transmission is broke or your computer is hung up... there was a long pause, a lot of effort and then I just kind of puttered to a stop and the ball went by. I was like, WTF body, I TOLD you to go!

I also have always had perfect vision—hadn't had an eye test since probably my last high school physical... but had gotten some strange headaches, especially after a long day at work, and wondered if I hadn't scratched my retina playing with my kids or something. Went to the doctor and she looked in my eye and finally sat down and asked me how old I was. I told her, and she asked me to grab a box from the shelf and check it out—I picked it up and held it up to read and started squinting and holding it closer and further away and she started laughing.

"You're just old and you need an eye test!" She was stunned I had never had an eye test. Optometrist says my distance is still 20/20 but I need reading glasses. I've embraced it with gusto. It's really nice to read again!

Dimly lit restaurants, the expensive ones, sure have menus with teeny tiny print.
