What was your "oh snap, I'm old now" moment?

Age spots on my hands

Restaurants are all too noisy, and I usually need my cell phone light to read the small font on the menus in the darkened spaces

The 20-somethings at the office frequently remind me (eg, Donald Sutherland died today, I mentioned it and they said, "who?")

There's some old woman next to my husband in our vacation photos. She not very good looking! She has this squinty eye and she's heavier than anyone I know.

I've always felt like I remember being in my undergrads' shoes and can relate to them somewhat. A few years ago they started frequently saying things like "Oh you're just like my mom!" or "My mom says the same thing!" which is normal but a sobering shift.

Also a prof. I recently made a reference to Bruce Springsteen in class & none of the students knew who he was.

I was in my 30's and guarding a high school kid who said I didn't go for any of his moves. I though yes I did, I just hadn't moved yet.

There was The Mindset List published prior to each Fall Semester to prep professors re: what culture references their students (born XX date) would likely NOT know.

I feel asleep in a weird position while watching a movie about four weeks ago and one of my arms has been slightly numb and tingly ever since.

Getting dumped out of my middling career on my 50th birthday and realizing that potential employers viewed me as elderly and unhirable. I eventually caught on in a job in a new direction but my ego and finances never recovered.

I'm a man. Hopefully it's not peri-menopause.

People blame everything on perimenopause these days. Glad for the reminder that sometimes it’s just plain old aging.

The #1 cause of death for women is heart disease. Doctors should know about the uptick in heart issues at menopause, but many do not. See Oprah re this in particular.

Unfortunately people ignore women’s heart issues generally. Why isn’t it a life time of wear and tear rather than lowered estrogen. I’m all for expanding the understanding of women’s health; I’m just skeptical that all of our post 50s ailments tie to decreased functioning of the ovaries.

To add insult to injury the 24 year old instructor ran over to say Ma’am, Ma’am, are you ok Ma’am, and then proceeded to escort my hobbled old ass out of the classroom while the whole class paused.

Dead. Totally dead. I had to quit.

I was having trouble getting info about something and I griped to a colleague that it was like getting info from the Kremlin. They had no idea what I was talking about.

If this reference made you chuckle, then we’re both old.

Yeahhh... OP here and I am very pleased with how this thread has gone and chuckled at your joke and enjoyed reading everyone else's, but it has dawned on me that the very act of creating this thread and taking pleasure in reading it is a sign that I'm old as dirt.
