Even if you've never heard the phrase, it's pretty easy to infer what it means, no? |
| Have you tried “put it into the toaster twice”? Double toasted should be self explanatory but sometimes you have to dumb it down to the exact steps you want. |
UGH Panera does this for my dc's bagels, but with butter. If I wanted to make it myself, we would stay home. Now we are awkwardly spreading a tiny amount of butter in the car. |
| Is double toasted the same as a burnt bagel? Serious question. |
No. It could mean toasted on both sides rather than only the cut side. I don't understand why you insist on ordering this way when it isn't getting the result you want. It works in NY/NJ? Great, do it there. But it's not working here, so use more words to explain what you want. |
WTF do you think a toaster does? It toasts both sides. Double toasted is self explanatory. For those with functioning brain cells |
For those with functioning toasters, there's a "Bagel" button that only toasts one side. Your inability to bold correctly suggests that even the most basic technology is beyond you, but maybe there's someone who will help. |
| I was going to suggest asking for it well done. Or you can say, can you run it through the toaster two times. |
No. Bagel option on toasters only toast one side. Interesting you didn't know this. I'll leave out the obvious rejoinder. |
So wouldn't that be running it thru that setting twice, either way, it's obvious what this means. You wouldn't say "double" if you thought they were using a one sided toaster you would say "full" toasted or something. But bagel places only have 1 toaster so it really doesn't need to be explained and there would be no setting adjustment required. |
| I think I've found some bagel place's favorite customer! |
I think I recognize you from the no one eats mayo thread? |
Ok smart azz- my toaster has a bagel setting and only toasts 1 side! |
OMG YOU'RE FROM NYC? WOWWWWWW! We are all so, so impressed. Thanks for dropping that so we know you REALLY know what you're talking about when it comes to bagels.
Translation: You're probably annoying and pushy af and don't tip. The minimum wage workers aren't waiters at a Michelin starred restaurant.

I am from the mayo thread but love a bagel and cream cheese! |
